In a partnership with the leaders of Journey Church in Columbia, SC, Washington Street United Methodist Church (WSUMC) will be holding a Service of Repentance and Healing on March 27 at 5:00 pm at WSUMC in its historic sanctuary. This special service will include choirs from both churches, along with pastors from both churches. This is sure to be a very meaningful and spiritual experience for the Columbia area.
Recognizing that if we do not acknowledge the sins of racism in our past and present, individually and systemically, we cannot hope to understand and heal the wounds of racist comments and actions, the service will include elements of confession and repentance and the repudiation of the times when this church has been silent in the face of racial injustice.
All are welcome here. The service will also be available online as seating is limited and social distancing is still encouraged. At this time, masks will still be required.
Limited seating is available. You may sign up online through Eventbrite. No ticket is necessary to enter.
The service will be live on YouTube starting at 4:55 pm on Sunday, March 27.
