Before joining WSUMC, Rev. Kathy James was the Director of Church Relations at Epworth Children’s Home. She has also served as the Director of Connectional Ministries for the South Carolina Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. With 30 years of experience, Kathy has a rich background in equipping churches to fulfill their missions within their communities.

Kathy holds a B.A. from the University of South Carolina and an M.Div. from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She is an ordained deacon with professional certification in Christian education, extensive experience, and training in non-profit management and conflict mediation.

Kathy is married to Rev. Joseph James, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church in Prosperity, SC Together, they have three adult sons.
