Music for the Spirit
Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022
11:00 am | Sanctuary

Join us for this wonderful, musical service featuring Shrimp City Slim. Enjoy some of the best blues music around and lift your spirit!

September 18- October 16, the Sunday sermon series will focus on various Biblical stories that will help us grow in our ability to listen to, respect, affirm and act for and with others. The series will include a special “Music for the Spirit” Service on September 25 featuring guest musician Gary Erwin (Shrimp City Slim). This service will be filled with the soulful sounds of Blues music and will be a perfect Sunday to invite your music-loving family and friends.

Rev. Becky Shirley will talk about “Hearing Other Voices” as we celebrate the diversity of our world in all ways and affirm all of God’s children.

The service will take place in the historic sanctuary at Washington Street United Methodist Church, located in downtown Columbia, SC.

Shrimp City Slim (aka Gary Erwin) hails originally from Chicago but now lives in Charleston.  His specialty is “world piano blues and original songs”.  A full-time musician for nearly forty years, Slim gigs nonstop here and overseas.  As a music activist/advocate, he also produces a weekly blues radio program on a commercial FM station in Charleston and organizes blues events around the state.  He is delighted to join our congregation this morning.  Further info: www.shrimpcityslim.com

Seats are first-come, first-served. Masks are optional. All are welcome here!
