Book Discussion (In-Person) “Invention of Wings” by Sue Monk Kidd

Please join Rev. Alston for a discussion of the historical novel, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. She will hold two discussions on Wednesday, July 6 at 6:30 pm in the John Harper Classroom. (During VBS | Parent’s Night Out)

There will be another opportunity earlier in the day to join in on Zoom, or in-person at 11:00 am.

This novel is a triumphant story about the quest for freedom and empowerment. The two main characters are Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early-nineteenth-century Charleston, and Sarah, the Grimke’s idealistic daughter. It is both moving and enlightening as Sarah and Handful seek to find their purpose and live fully in the time and place where they reside. We hope you will join us for one of these discussions.
